Göreme – Ballonfahrt

Kappadokien ist eine ausgesprochen aussergewöhnliche Landschaft in Zentralanatolien im Dreieck der Städte Aksaray, Nigde und Kayseri. Auch wenn man die Pferde nicht sieht, Kappadokien kommt aus dem Altpersischen (Katpatuka) und bedeutet so viel wie “Land der schönen Pferde”.

Ich habe das UNESCO-Welt- und Naturerbe “Göreme National Park and the Rock Sites of Cappadocia“, welches im Wesentlichen durch Vulkane und Erosionen geprägt wurde und wird, mit dem Ballon überfahren. Als sich einst das Taurusgebirge im Süden hob, wurde die ursprünglich von Seen und Sümpfen geprägte Landschaft von vulkanischem Lava und Tuff überzogen. Die wichen Tuffe wurden im Laufe der Zeit vom Wasser ausgespült, wordurch sich die teils sehr bizarren und ungewöhnlichen Felsen bildeten, welche auch als Feenkamine bezeichnet werden. An vielen Stellen wurden dabei die unterirdischen Höhlen, Städte und Kirchen freigelegt, welche die Menschen zum Schutz vor Überfällen und Verfolgung angelegt hatten.

Die Ballonfahrt ist zu einem Wahrzeichen der Region geworden, starten doch täglich bis zu 160 Ballons, welche ein imposantes Bild über der an sich bereits beeindruckenden Landschaft abgeben.

Unser Pilot Hazim von Voyager Balloons hat uns mit seinem Präzisionsflug dicht über dem Grund in die Täler geführt, rund um die sogenannten Feen-Kamine, die Tuff-Kegel, und bis auf 2000 Meter Höhe.

Das Bild ist mit meinem Lieblingsweitwinkel, dem Nikkor 14-24mmm entstanden, mit dem ich aus der Hand elf Bilder gemacht und anschliessend in Autopano zusammengeführt habe.

Göreme – Balloon Flight

Cappadokia is a very impressive and exiting landscape within Central Anatolia in the triangle of the cities Aksaray, Nigde and Kayseri. Although you can’t see the horses, Cappadocia has its origin in the Old Persian (Katpatuka) and means “Land of beautiful horses”.

I’ve done a balloon flight over the “Göreme National Park and the Rock Sites of Cappadocia” which has been shaped by vulcanoes and erosions. Once when the Taurus Mountains came up and this area was existing of lakes and marsh, vulcanoes erupted and tuff has been spread around. The tuff, which is a very soft stony material, has been eroded over the years and is showing today very bizarre formations, that are also known as fairy chimneys. At many locations people have created subsurface caves, cities and churches in order to be protected against raids and persecution.

The balloon flight is nowadays a landmark for this region where daily around 160 ballons are starting early in the morning showing an impressive picture above an already exiting landscape.

Our piolot Hazim from Voyager Balloons has made a great job flying very precisely over the ground into the valleys, around the fairy chimneys and up to 2000 meter height.

I’ve capture this picture with my favourite wide angle lens, the 14-24 mm Nikkor and produced eleven pictures without tripod and merged them together with Autopano.
